Managing Agent run off with money. Who is liable for outstanding debt?

But there's also nothing the OP has said to suggest that the solicitor is right.
That's why I asked whose solicitor it was. For example, was it a contractor's solicitor (who might be taking a punt)?
FWIW, a solicitor once told me he was happy to write a letter to a freeholder saying they owed a leaseholder a debt that included thousands of pounds for distress and inconvenience.
But he also said that no court would ever uphold that debt.
