Councilling course mis sold

I was hounded by the knowledge acadamy with emails after emails, keep dropping the price for a course. The person said that she needed to talk to her manager re letting me do the course this cheap and she did not do this but authorised it herself. It was a call centre and I wish that this had alerted me to the scam. I was assured that I would receive a certificate after completing the course which was only a couple of hours readiing(which I did not realise at the time) and I was expecting an exam for the certificate to prove my knowledge as with other courses. They sent a certificate which I can not access now after telling them that I was taking it further as I did not get anything anything from the course and could have read the content on the web. I paid £200 in installments with Klarma and have only paid one payment and raised a dispute.
I was promised in an email that I would get 24/7 support and when raising a ticket and emailing the person who sold me this, there was no reply. I kept sending emails with no reply so I raised a complaint. I was promised on the email, which I have in black and white, that Online Self-paced info

once you are booked on with us you have a private tutor that can go through the jobs available with you that you can get with this job, as well as this we work with multiple organisations and would definitely be able to help you secure you the perfect job!

Non of this has been made available and has not happened!
Please could someone from consumer advice advise me on this matter.

This is just a discussion forum, we can't provide official consumer advice.

It sounds like you've taken the course and received the certificate (although you no longer have access to it?) so I don't think you can claim a full refund.  Presumably they're withholding the certificate until you make the final payment?

    OP says the Knowledge Academy.

I think the course she studied must be the Counselling Masterclass (note the spelling).

  • I did spell it wrong and thank you OP. They can not give me the 24/7 support or the help to secure a job. DO NOT GO THERE, it is a call Centre that promises the earth and do not keep their promises or help at all! They hound you until they get you to sign up. I am having them under consumer rights act - legislation with info provided about service - not provided in accordance with this act and can ask for a refund.

No one can help secure you a job it is down to application and interview. If you are looking to work in the counselling field then you need to attend accreditted academic courses usually at a college or university. If you sre looking to provide counselliing in specific areas some volunteeer organisations provide their own training.
    Good luck with your claim.

There are lots of ways people can help you secure a job from making you aware of vacancies, helping you write the application to doing interview prep with you.

There is a difference between helping you secure a job and guaranteeing you will get a job! That said, they can guarantee a job too, but doesn't mean it's a good job or one that you manage to keep beyond an initial period. I can pay a local company to take on all those that pass my course on trainee money for a minimum of 4 weeks and then the company is free to retain or sack them but I can say they got a job as I promised they would.
