Hi,
I had a HikVision CCTV installed last year, 26 October 2022 for £1663. At the time, the installer mentioned that optional Service was £95 . Forward approx a year, I noticed two weeks ago that I was unable to access the cameras on my Hikvision iphone app which incidentally is free. Been trying to play around with the settings on the app but had no success.
Eventually called the installer this morning and it seems that he has remotely turned off the remote viewing from phone and is demanding £95 for service of the system and £35 per year for remote viewing. When I went to look on the physical system it seems that he has set a password on the system so I am unable to access the settings!
Initially I thought that I was unable to access the system at all but clicking the cross on the password screen lets me view the cameras on the monitor. However still two problems:
1) I'm unable to access the settings on the system NVR due to a password. The password seems to be enterable by mouse (attached to the NVR) moved through a certain pattern on the screen. Surely setting an admin password on a system I have paid for and not allowing access to settings is illegal ?
2) I'm unable to access the remote viewing the ongoing price which was not even mentioned.
Is there a way to change the password and or resolve these issues?
Regards,
Imran

I would check what you signed up to. Generally CCTV works in one of two ways.
A system you have installed which provides output to a recorder or inbuilt recorder.
A system that allow remote access. You either install an app which might give you access free for a certain period after which you have to pay or you always have basic access but have to pay for extra features like online recording or you buy the recording, remote viewing as part of a package.
Looking at HikVision it seems to have a learning function and other features which I can't believe would be free.
You'll need to check your contract from when it was installed.
The same thing happens with some cars now. Free app for a certain period then you pay.0 -
If you google "hikvision admin password reset" loads of hits, just work your way through them0
