If you close the account before the 12 months is up do you get paid the interest for the time your cash has been in it, and would there be a penalty.
Thank You.
Thank You.

You get a pro rata amount based on days and there is no penalty for closing, other than not having the £ built up in the account1

Closing is the only way to withdraw money from this account and, while it doesn't specifically state that you'll be paid interest up until the date of closure, I would imagine you should be - especially as no early closure penalty is mentioned in the T&Cs.
I think you'll have to visit a branch to close it - there's no obvious online option for account closure, at least not within the app.1 -
Same as Lloyds - renew the account, log out and back in and you can then view the interest / transfer out and close. I closed one last week. No need to do a branch visit or speak to any Halifax staff.Mortgage and debt free. Building up savings...4

Don't need to renew, just close and instruct your capital capital+interest to be transferred to your current account. It's not the same as Lloyds.financialbliss said:Same as Lloyds - renew the account, log out and back in and you can then view the interest / transfer out and close. I closed one last week. So... How do you 'just close' the account?allegro120 said:

It's not obvious to me how you would close the RS. If you renew it's quick and simple, and the easy access savers can be closed under Account Services

And immediately allows you to open a new one. Closure doesn't do that I thinkColdIron said:It's not obvious to me how you would close the RS. The issue is that you can't do this online and have to visit a branch in which case, from the comments above, it sounds like 'renewing' it to an account you can close online would be the easier option.allegro120 said:

From the Regular Saver T&Cs... "Close your account if you need to – use one of our branches with a counter"
