Blackout curtains vs blackout lining vs thermal lining

Who would have though it would be so complicated.

So I have seen some blackout curtains that use a middle fabric in between two normal layers (so not lining I assume, or is still lining with fancy name?).  They call it high density black yarn.

I have seen curtains sold with optional lining but the retailers offering this but charge a huge amount for the curtains about 4x price of competitors (even without lining).  These have choice between thermal and blackout.

My existing curtains are in need of replacement, are thick but no lining, can see through the tiny holes and has tears now as well so are done.  Would love the room to have resistance to heat in summer and cold in winter and want proper blocking of light and my privacy, have seen some awful stuff on the market now days, super thing materials etc. So am trying to get an idea of the options available.

In our bedroom we have a blind and curtains. Curtains are fairly thin, so we just use those in the winter. Blind and curtain combined, give a dark room in winter - not quite black out but close enough for us.

For just curtains, it depends how the curtains are fitted. We have what are supposed to be black out curtains in the attic bedroom, but they don't black out the room completely as there is a gap to the top of the curtains which would need some work doing to block out - haven't had the time or inclination to do it. However the curtains do make the room dark enough for grandkids when they visit. 

You can buy stick on stuff - I wouldn't bother, looks naff and doesn't work great.

I also don't think you gain a lot on the heat/cold front - maybe a few degrees at best. Personally I'd just go with blackout curtains if they aren't too expensive, or cheaper thick curtains and learn to live with some light.

I've used the thermal, blackout blinds, and curtains from various companies e.g 24/7, Blinds2Go, BlindsDirect et al.
Some offer curtains, some don't.
Main point is - they're incredibly better prices as there's no 'middle-man' which saves an absolute fortune.
The curtains i have, throughout the house, are a pale creamy white, have a blackout lining with thermal properties and don't let a shred of light through that fabric.
The website shows you the price of the goods as you enter the windows measurements, so you can see instantly and tailor things to your own budget.

I ended up ordering blackout curtains which have no lining, so the blackout is done in a different way, after they up I will let you guys know what I think.

All the websites I did find that did tailored measurements ironically were the ones that do cost a fortune.  

For the set I got it cost me about £45 for the pair pre sized, on Amazon from Chinese sellers probably £20-30 with very vague product descriptions, on specialist curtain sellers with tailor made measurements £150-250.
