Car renewal fubar

In sept 2022 i took out car insureance with the clue is lord nelson, all good, at the time they asked for licence check for myself which also was good, fast forward to this year, i replaced the car with another in early sept, i will refer to the cars as the old one 05 and the replacement 09, the 09 car was put on the policy without issue and the 05 taken off, a week or so later i noticed that the 05 car was on automatic renewal, i rang and asked why and also wanted to know why the renewal premium had gone up from £253 to £314 for the same 05 car in two weeks, all they could tell me was that there is a licence discrepency, there is another driver on the policy, they have never asked about them, all i can think of is that my licence has the letter w on it for middle name and policy has not, and that i still use green paper one from 1981, as address etc has not changed in that time the licence is still valid, they needed pics of it, as we all know the catagory letters changed a few years ago, but again both those things would have been an issue last year and when i changed cars over 3 weeks ago, they keep asking me if i have had any motoring convictions, which i have none, now the auto renewal has gone through and i have paid for it, i am in the sticky pedicament of one 05 car waiting for scrap man or welder because its bad underneath and the 09 car with full years tax and mot with no insureance whatsoever,
what on earth is going on

As there will only be one policy, are you saying that the policy did not get changed from covering the old car to the new one? At the start you say that the 09 car was added and the 05 removed and that was all good. That means that the 05 car is not longer insured.
You then mention a renewal for the 05 car. The 05 car is not longer on your policy, it is the 09 car unless the first part of your post is not correct.
Have you given them the license numbers for both insured drivers? This means that initials in names are irrelevant as they check the number.
What is the predicament, you just make sure the car covered on the policy is the new 09 one you want covered.0 -
the 05 car is insured right now, the 09 car was put on the policy on 13/09/23,and the 05 car removed, i have the paper cert, that whole years policy ran out on 29/09/23, the 05 car was on auto renewal whilst the 09 car was on the policy, they never changed it,as we stand the 05 car is insured when it shouldent be and the 09 car is not when it should be and all they do is ramble on about a licence discrepency whilst they are happy to renew the 05 car, they never asked for the other drivers number, cannot remember about last year.

That means that the 09 car was never the main car on the policy. It is not the car which gets renewed it is the policy of which the car is registered against.
They will not be rambling on, you need to understand what the issue is and what information they need to resolve it.
You are running the risk of them cancelling the policy which will mean you have to declare that in the future pushing up your price.0 -
thanks for the help but whats the next step, you are correct i dont understand, i dont know what info they want, apart from licence discrepency they have not been clear about anything else, the 13 sept cert i have does say, change of vehicle from 05 to 09, you are covered on your new vehicle from the time you collect it at this point the cover for the previous vehicle noted on your certificate of insureance will cease

Firstly then ask them why the 09 car was not the one on the renewal and to rectify that mistake.
Then ask them what the issue is with the license. Have they got the license number and does that tie up to your identity, or is it the additional driver they have the issue with? Who is the additional driver and have they disclosed everything to you and have you then disclosed that to the insurer.0 -
yeah, i did ask the first point in the past, they said that they were working on that, is it possible they just missed it like i diddent notice until a week later, i just found it strange that i have a certificate of insureance with the 09 on it and not renewed, they did give me a couple of extra days on it which was decent, i only use a car twice a week, 2 wheels otherwise, it could be looking like its the other driver, she was only put on as a just incase thing, she hasent driven either car in the last year, could be onto something there, i never thought it as she was never asked about from memory, the other driver is related so her licence details are known to me, i will ask if its the other driver, and if they require a dvla check ar maybe as she hasent driven in the last year to get her removed.as for my licence it was correct last year and 3 weeks ago nothing has changed so hence my not understanding
