Airport drinks

Wetherspoons at Gatwick was rammed when we were there last year and we had plenty of time to observe it as our flight was nine hours late!

There is free cold water, is it not the right thing to do to just have what's on offer rather than see what else may be available? 

I noticed recently passengers trying to take hot coffees purchased at the airport onto the plane and were stopped.

Could there be an unknown reason why we cant have boiling water? Ie if you buy a hot drink it has to be in the supplied cup?

I bought a cup of hot water in April at Cardiff Airport for 30p (I needed it for cold & flu lemon drink).

The 'spoons at Stansted is said to be the best in the country. (Judged by quite what criteria, I don't know).

Personally, I'd rather not go mad on fluids before a flight. The last time I flew I found using the facilities awkward to say the least. This was an AA flight, I am tall but not overweight so I have no idea how your average American manages not to get stuck in there.

I thought Stanstead witherspoon was pretty good back in June. Busy but we found a table without a wait. Not very cheap, but not insanely bad either
