Skycard interest rate increased to 21.9% (purchases)

I've had a Skycard for a few months and received a letter saying that they are increasing the interest rate to 21.9% on purchases.

Is this happening to all Skycard holders or is it just certain customers (ie risk-based pricing)? The conduct of my account and other Barclays products has been faultless.

I have held a SkyCard since around October time, and have 0% on BTs until June....I haven't had anything relating to this....maybe it was before I applied.

There will come a time soon when 'credit cards' are only any good for balance transfers...if you get my meaning. Purchasing on them will be too expensive unless you clear the balance each month, which not all of us can do.
  • Sorry if i'm stating the obvious but i found calling up customer services & asking them if they could possibly reduce the interest rate, worked. Maybe say that you have other accounts with lower rates. Nothing ventured, nothing gained?

Thanks skybluesaver but I don't intend to keep a balance on it except for 0% deals.

But I am concerned if Barclays think I am a higher risk, because this could affect the promotions they offer on my Barclaycard and Skycard. I also have a big overdraft facility on my Barclays current account which I occasionally dip into and wouldn't like to lose.
