I have had this one for just over two years and have never had any problems with it. Even when the kids try to shred the equivalent of a book in one go.  It does confetti size cuts and will even shred debit cards.

For that shredder, I noticed in the Q&A people said that it doesn't need oil. Is that correct?

I thought oil was needed for all shredders for maintenance so it doesn't get clogged up.

Is there such a thing as 'shredder oil' or will a quick squit of WD-50 fix this like it does everything else?
Yes, there's shredder oil such as Fellowes Shredder oil. Its quite expensive at £7.50 though. I don't think WD-40 can be used instead.

I got my mum an Amazon basics shredder and it is just fine.
Shredders do need oil but I remember seeing a chemical spec sheet for some branded shredder oil and it was listed as being 99% canola oil. Which is to all intents and purposes rapeseed oil, so just get the cheapest bulk cooking oil you can find.
@outtatune good spot, Fellowes spec sheet here

Rapeseed oil, at £9.20/355ml (£26/litre) Staples.

    Rapeseed oil, £1.85//litre Aldi

I bought the cheapest Fellows from Argos. I'm happy with it, although I have accidentally fed it too much at once a few times. When that happens, using the reverse switch has always sorted it. I've never bothered with that expensive Fellows oil that you can buy for it...will get some canola oil as suggested by outtatune

I have  Felliowes shredder and as said their own 'special' oil is expensive for a tiny bottle.
But if you read the information label/leaflet it is Canola oil, AKA rapeseed oil.
Look at the label on supermarket own-brand vegetable/cooking oil and you will find it's often 100% rapeseed oil at a fraction of the cost.
A couple of drops of cooking oil spread on a sheet of paper and then shred it, oiling job done.

I don't recall it coming with any oil, and in all the years and very regular use I have not oiled it to date

    I’ve never oiled a shredder.

I shredded enough paper to fill 5 bin bags using one of these, I had to give it a break every now and again due to the thermal cut out working, as it should.
Open out cereal boxes, rip into strips, it doesn't falter.
Just curious, why would you want to shred a cereal box?
Because it then goes into the compost heap.  :)
