Appeal Form - Ticket Not Found

I received an NTK and when going to the company's appeal form and putting in the PCN number and vehicle registration as requested it says "Sorry, we cannot find this ticket - please check the details you have provided are correct." To see if it was just a glitch in their appeals page I also tried the details on their payment page (not intending to pay, obviously) and it returned the same result.

Also the NTK was the first notification about the incident. It states 'Payment for the Payment for the Parking Charge Notice PCNXXXX is overdue' but I never received an actual  PCN (it's an ANR system - no notices on windows at the site concerned). Does that make a difference?

This is a retail/ leisure park where extended free parking can be validated by entering the vehicle reg on a tablet in the venue. The driver is reasonably sure they entered the details as usual (regular user of the venue). On enquiry at the venue they could confirm that the driver checked in as a customer at the relevant time, but said they do not hold the records relating to the vehicle registration terminals.

So - do I ignore and wait to see if there is any follow up? (I wonder if there was a mismatch between the data from the in-venue terminals and the ANR data and that the NTK went out by mistake as they actually DO have the registration number from the terminal  - it states that the 'notice issue date' was the date of the alleged 'contravention)'

Or is it best nevertheless to put in a template appeal by email? (And if so do I include the lack of an actual PCN and refer to evidence that the driver was using the facilities and believes they validated the registration at the in-venue terminals. And (possibly for future reference if advice is to ignore this one) is the data from the validation terminals something that should be asked for in the same way that data from PDT machines is requested in the template appeal?

If it states that payment is overdue, it seems to me that it could be a reminder.  Is your V5C (logbook) up-to-date with your current address as that is the usual reason for not receiving the NTK but then receiving a reminder as they do a soft trace to find you.

It could be that your case has been passed to debt collectors, so to give the debt collector the opportunity to collect their bounty, the parking company have disabled any direct payment method for the time being.

The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collectors letters when they arrive.
  • Thanks for the replies - sorry, I didn't think to put the timescale in, but the NTK (the first and only communication received about this) was dated 15th September, referring to a PCN (not received) dated 11th September which was the date of the contravention, so we are before the point of debt collectors or even reminders

Take a screenshot.  Just in case.

But I suspect they'd lost the exemption list that day and have now found it, realised you did input your VRM and they've cancelled the PCN I would hope.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
