Acknowledgement of service of LoC

Received a letter of claim by post for two parking charges from 3 and 4 years ago. Can’t remember if I appealed off hand.
Should I send an acknowledgment of service and if so can this be done by email as I’m abroad and the deadline is Monday.
Apologies for not searching the forum for answers more thoroughly but I’m on holiday and have little time at the moment.

Acknowledgment of Service follows a County Court Claim.

Do you have a County Court Claim?

You mention a deadline. What's that about?

If this is just a letter from a solicitor (DCB Legal, Gladstones, BW Legal and QDR are the usual suspects) headed 'Letter of Claim', then there's no formal 'Acknowledgment of Service' necessary, rather a robust response as per advice in the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, second post.

If however you have a court claim, that then does need a formal Acknowledgment of Service (AOS), if so, please give us the Date of Issue shown on the claim form.

    Which parking firm is involved?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I’ve no idea of hand whether I’ve a court claim. This is the first I’ve heard about these charges for years.
It says I have 14 days from receipt to send an acknowledgement of service.

You say you have no idea about whether you have a Court Claim, but in the very next post you show us a picture of a Claim Form.

You've been here before. You've had a County Court Claim before.
    You know what's going on.

With a Claim Issue Date of 13th September, you have until Monday 2nd October to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 16th October 2023 to file your Defence.
That's over two weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Were these parking incidents in June 2019 and Jan 2020?

If so, you already have a thread about this.
  • First step, acknowledgment done. Thanks for your help.

It's a bit like talking to a brick wall!  :s

Please show us the PoC so we can advise whether a recent appeal judgment can be cited in the defence in order to get this thrown out at allocation stage.

Mr Bird, your full name and your Claim Number are clearly displayed on that image you have shown us.
I wonder what a mischievous person might be able to do with that information?
