Entered wrong number plate

Never had a parking ticket before and now two in the space of a few months! Anyway, reason for the post is just to clarify what I should do next. Have had a read through threads and advice on the forum and the money saving main website. Basically I went to a car park operated by euro car parks, went to put in my number plate and entered the NUMBERS wrong, put in the numbers of my last car by mistake, but all the letters were correct. I still have the parking ticket as I realised my error. I gather I should appeal informing them of my mistake and showing a picture of the parking ticket I have. Then they should just throw it out, or make me pay an admin fee of £20. Is this correct please? Do I appeal by calling euro car parks? Thanks for your help, much appreciated as always.

    That is totally correct. But:

Of course you don't PHONE a parking firm!

Pleased to say that euro car parks have dropped the alleged , ahem, ‘fine’, however the last bit of their email I thought I’d share:

“The Parking Charge Notice has been cancelled on this occasion, however any further Parking Charge Notices issued for the same reasons will not be cancelled. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure the correct VRM has been entered when purchasing a pay and display.“

so they’re basically saying that I can never make a mistake again. From what I’ve gathered that’s just another lie, and if human error happens again I will most certainly not be paying without appeal.

    Thanks for all your help.

And in 2024 they'll have to cancel all keying error cases anyway, on appeal, due to the Government's new statutory Code of Practice.

    Nice result BTW!
