hi everyone,

Just a quick question on the policy provider. I have been with Sheilas Wheels for a long time. My policy is not up for renewal until December. Today I received an email from someone called rekeys at esure.com quoting my policy number with below message. Doesn't that message sound strange, is this legit or fraud, has anyone else received similar email?
I have updated my policy about a month ago as I have a new car now, the number to call is not a number I was sent with the most receint communications from SW, so I am inclined to think its a scam..?

If it is, hope no one who may have received it actually called teh number and gave them their payment details.

'Sheilas Wheels Policy Number: xxxx

We’re making some changes and we need you to call us on 0345 604 3550 as soon as possible.

What were doing

We’re updating our systems to deliver an improved online customer experience.

As part of this process, we’ve identified a small number of polices that have to be cancelled and new ones set up. Unfortunately, your policy is one of these.

The new policy will be the same price as your existing one, and all details and excesses of your cover will remain unchanged.

You’re still fully insured, and your current insurance with us hasn’t changed so you can continue to drive your car as usual.

What we need you to do

We need you to call us and confirm some details for the new policy. We’ll need to take a payment as part of this but can discuss options with you. We appreciate that this is an inconvenience for you and we’ll do our very best to make it as fast and easy as possible for you.

We can answer any questions you may have when we speak to you. Please call us as soon as possible 0345 604 3550 We’re available Monday-Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 9am-2pm.

Thanks for your understanding while we improve our service, and we look forward to speaking with you soon.

 The Sheilas Wheels Team'

Why don't you try calling the number that you know is legitimate and ask them the question, or use their live chat?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Long queue on teh line and as I am at work atm, I thought I would see if anyone on here knows about it. TY

That is the genuine telephone number for Sheilas Wheels?

It sounds like they are doing a system migration and for some reason there has been an issue transferring some policies or unencypting the payment details or such.

These things happen, our new CEO one day signed off a new marketing promotion and it was literally on the TV making a renewal price promise that those of us in the Change team even knew about it so had under 12 months to workout how we were going to make it happen. In the end we were given two options 1) something that was moderately cheap, could be delivered in 6 months but couldn't deal with movements in IPT or 2) an exceptionally expensive solution that they'd try to deliver in 12 months but may not even work

We naturally went for option 1 but had to plan for the IPT movement scenario which would have been getting in a couple of hundred temps to go into policies, cancel the system generated renewal letter, adjust the premium down to last years and reissue the renewal letter with the new premium... clearly nothing could have gone wrong with that! Thankfully IPT didn't move and subsequent versions of the Ad stated it excluded IPT movements.

Goes beyond just being part of the same group, the policy is arranged by esure Services Limited and underwritten by esure  Insurance Limited. Sheila's Wheels is just a trading style and not a separate entity

Whilst legitimate it seems. The strange part of the email is that they need to take a payment for their policy changes.

If you have paid your full premium and owe nothing I would be questioning this when you call them.

As above, it sounds like they are doing IT work and something has gone wrong. Seems they've decided its easier to discuss options with the insured and manually process the exceptions than delay the project and develop and IT solution.

If you wanted to be cynical then it could be they need to take a payment because the OP is paying by CPA and having failed to migrate the policy they need to do a transaction to reestablish the CPA so they can auto-renew at the end of the policy year.

Of course, do not click on a link in an email, nor phone a number given there.

Generally good advice but if you Google the phone number given, it comes up as Sheila's wheels.
