Back dated pay rise

I was due a pay rise in April, and received a full and final offer from the employer. The union has argued with the employer which is delaying the pay rise. When it is finally agreed, (note the full and final bit! )are the employees entitled to the pay plus the interest they would have got on the money if it had been paid in April?

There is no automatic right.  Whether it is paid depends on the employer and what has been agreed with unions. Very unlikely you will get interest, but back pay is possible.

If you have left the employment before the pay rise is formally agreed, then you need to check your employer's terms and conditions re eligibility for a pay rise. Many employers will not pay a backdated pay rise to former staff.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • To clarify, the question is ‘should employees receive interest on back pay?’
  • There is no legal requirement to and I don't think I have heard of any employers ever doing so.

In 37 years of work I never received any interest on backdated pay rises
