OH is going to be sooooo pleased when I wake him up and tell him I've 'fixed' the sky remote. It did work for volume etc until we changed the batteries and so he was going to buy a new one - thank you very much
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Good job you didn't buy a new one, as that wouldn't have controlled the TV until you entered the same code. If you don't replace the batteries within 10 mins or so of the going totally flat, then there's no power to remember the TV code.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I know and he would have probably thrown the new remote at the telly!! Our next problem (nice one though) is that we have just bought a panasonic viera plasma - the home cinema system arrived today so TV should arrive soon - will we just be able to 'plug and play' our sky + (after reprogramming the remote of course) or do we have to do something technical?

No, should just be as you say plug and play. If your old TV wasn't widescreen, then it's just a case of going into the Sky+ set-up and setting it to widescreen and RGB if not already set. Though you may want to upgrade to Sky HD.

BBC HD, 4HD and Luxe.TV require no HD subscription.

Thanks BexTech - No the old one isn't widescreen so will follow your advice - OH was rabbiting on about tuning a channel in for the sky.
Just waiting for HD to come down to a sensible price then may well convert

If connecting up via SCART lead then no need for tuning a channel in for Sky+.

Just choose the AV input (SCART) on the TV, using SCART also gives you stereo / pro-logic surround sound, 'tuning in a channel' on the TV for Sky would only give you mono sound.

You'll manage to control the home cinema volume with the Sky remote too, because of the Viera link. The men who installed our TV and surround sound did this so I have no idea what they did lol. It's great though. I lost the Viera link somehow (I didn't do anything, honest! Got a hard time from my dh. :o ) Last week it started working again.
  • didnt know about all of this and took batteries out as baby was playing with remote.
when i put them back in, it didnt work.

sorted now thanks to the link. :)
  • The best way to reprogramme your sky remote so that it works on your new TV is to follow the clear step by step advice on Sky's website at http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyhelpcentre/producthelp?nodeId=73a6e9e0-0ade-4eed-810b-cec670799bcc&articleId=11320303

I tried lots of various tips from other users before I found this excellent guide from Sky.

I've had various TVs since Sky was installed. The volume has never worked on any of the replacements.

At the moment we have a very cheap Durabrand from Asda.

    Here are the codes:
    0584, 0065, 0634, 0742.

    Code 0634 works for me.

My little one broke the Durabrand remote last night and we can now use the volume control on the Sky remote for the first time in years.

What a great post this is.

    Thank you all.
