How do I find my telephone line provider?

We have moved into a rented property and the landlord does not know who the last telephone line provider was. How do we find out to get it reinstated/reconnected?

Assuming it's an Openreach line, you don't. Just order service from whoever you want to use.

Exactly, the previous occupants service provider is irrelevant, you approach whoever you want to use , if the previous occupant contacted their provider ( whoever they used ) let them know they were moving out , then the line can be ‘restarted’ relatively quickly by whoever you pick , if the previous occupant didn’t let their provider know ,and just moved out ,  there may be a delay because the process takes longer if the ‘line’ still appears to be in use.
 Even if you knew who the previous provider was , and you decided to use the same one , there would still be a process to follow , so it wouldn’t be any quicker
