Who Supplies My Electricity?

I live in a block of flats. They were managed by a company that has both closed and someone has run off with the funds. We are having to pick up the pieces, but we cannot find out who supplies the electricity for the communal areas.

How can we find out who our suppliers is before we get cut off?

must be a way of finding - when you want to change supplier, the new supplier liaises with the old one even if you don't tell them who it is
  • Hi,
have you access to the communal meter, might get some info from that?
  • Try putting the postcode into this online tool:

The catch is that the individual flats may each have their own different supplier and the communal supply could be another supplier again. If the online search doesn't answer your question, try calling your DNO. The good news is that if your DNO is National Grid and your experience is anything like mine you'll find they pretty much wrote the book on how to deliver good customer service and will bend over backwards to be helpful.  If you have access to the communal meter there should be a serial number on the meter which you can quote if you do need to contact the DNO. But one way or the other if you can't find the supplier online just call your DNO and they'll help you track it down.
