Will kitchen splashback look weird with no extractor hood

There are 3 rows of tiles all round the kitchen, so about 50cm high. When cooking, splashes reach above this and look bad on the wall. Is getting a splashback a good idea or will it look weird, what with there being no extractor hood? Thanks for any cool ideas!

It looks weird as it is!A splashback of pretty much any description will look ok there, as it's clear it will be serving a purpose.Tiling it is 'ok', but it is gasping to be a feature. I mean, plain white tiles, white units...Time to both Google and PinterestQ - is there a cooker going there? If so, why no 'hood?0
