  • Exciting on the new car, that something I need to have a contingency for, current one is 8 years old this year, I'd not thought of it's actual age til just now, it's German though so might last a good while and it's also ULEZ compliant which is a big factor - in fact when I come to get a new (well it'll be new to me) I may look out of London.

I feel your pain on the celebrations month blowing things out the water for the month but there's always next month to redeem yourself.

Am guessing from bits I've read and your diary name you like coffee - is there a Nero near you? If your utilities are with Octopus, it's a free coffee a week. I get mine almost every week! I still buy the odd coffee (maybe twice a month) from the independent shop by the station but I don't object to maxing  out the Octopus / Nero deal!
    July 2024 £12,150  Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!!  Total £10,276

I guess it also depends on how many miles you've done as well and type of driving as to what he wear and tear on it will be like.

Haha yes I do love a good coffee, I've been quite restrained recently about it but did get myself one today.

I do have octopus and have seen the Nero thing but that's in the town in opposite direction to football etc. I'm kind of in middle of two different ones. Though it may be worth considering going there for food shopping as it has a bigger Mr T which doesn't run out of fruit and veg as quick on weekends. Can also park for free for 3 hours if you spend £5 in store. Is the Nero just mon to fri or all week? Actually I can go look myself!

    OK let's try again.

    Today's spends
£4.45 on coffee from Mr C
    £3.70 on train ticket
£6.86 on breakfast and glass of OJ.
£4.20 on 2 bottles of water at football ground (yes it's a rip off but a warm day)

    Things I saved money on:

I found free parking and walked 15 mins to ferry instead
I walked from pub after the game to train station (20 mins) to use my return ticket then pay £2 for the bus.
My cousins both brought me a drink in exchange for bottle of water at game.
I took snacks instead of buying food on way home and cooked my pizza instead.

Tomorrow I need to do a food shop as I desperately needed a wee and was starving on way home so didn't stop at Mr A. I did write my shopping list though.

I also need to get my car cleaned as my back is killing me so won't be doing that myself. I'll probably get myself a coffee whilst I wait for car to be cleaned but maybe not as did have one today. Car needs emptying first though. Also need to sort out driveway for new car as well.

Then in the evening a friend is picking me up for a beach walk so I don't have to pay to park as her permit covers the car park.

I had hoped to squeeze in a gym session but with my back the way it feels that's probably not going to happen.

Then need to get ready for the week ahead, I have quite a bit going on so will have some expenses. Car arrives Monday, so will need to change insurance, tax etc and pay remaining balance. Wednesday is office day, so train and car parking fees. Work Friend who I pick up on the way to station pays for the coffees. I usually need to do a mid week top up shop on Thursday as fruit etc doesn't last. Friday is getting my nails done (£20) and afternoon tea (£20). I'm still not sure if they are expecting me to go halves on the relatives afternoon tea or not. Hope not as I did get them a small gift before we had arranged this.
Saturday is chiropractor (£46 ouch) again I'd hoped this would be my last session but will have to see. The pain feels more muscular so may be better off going back to my massage lady. She's cheaper as well. Then bank holiday I have a friend penciled in to visit with her family, I'm also off in the Tuesday after as well. So that's going to be expensive with activities, parking and eating out.  We are trying to plan free or low cost things to do with the kids. Summer months are always expensive for me, especially August with all the birthdays and activities.

Nope, not the same industry then!

Hope the car getting goes smoothly tomorrow.

Smaller engine should definitely help with the lower fuel.

Thank you I'm excited about it.

So did a quick check and current insurance provider is quoting about £35-£50 to change insurance. Just need to estimate mileage for rest of year. It ends in November so as most of year I might as well get the NCB. Not that I really need it as most just put 10+ now. But it also helps spread the car costs as MOT will be July. Car tax is £35 but should get a refund on my current one. I paid the initial £250 deposit off my Natwest card and also made Overpayment to get it to a round number.

So took car to car wash today, hoping to get close to what was quoted for p exchange as was up front about all cosmetic issues. Also did food shop, had a Mr C but got bakery items from Lid! instead as half the price. Total spent today £64 including round ups. No plans to spend this evening, if I do will be from change in my purse as may treat myself to something sweet from shop.

Very reasonable costs for your footie.  I'm glad the season has started again but would have preferred a different fixture to start my team's season.  Still it gets the loss out of the way early 🥴

Hahaha yes sometimes I think it's best that way, I fully expected us to have no points at this stage but have 2 from 2. First game against the favourites to win the league and 2nd against a team that got relegated from PL. So will take the points and be happy.
