Declutter away!Sarahwithlove said:
Yes you live and learn I suppose! Just hope it's OK when it eventually arrives.Willowtree222 said:What a palaver. Not good about the extra cost, but at least it's giving you space. X
Only bonus is that I have lots of space in the living room for decluttering this weekend.September 2017 Debt = £25330

So the major declutter took place yesterday, safe to say I ache today. I did a tip run, my bin is full but luckily its black bin week this week. Recycling bin is supposed to last another week, that's not going to happen. I've started filling a carrier bag for now, but may speak to my neighbour and see if i can put some in theirs. My boot is currently full of stuff for charity shop and I need to do another tip run at weekend. But the whole place looks so much better and I feel better for it. I also have a massive pile of stuff to put on fb and vinted.
Still no update on the sofa situation. God knows what is happening. I think I may need to give them a call tomorrow instead of trying to go through live chat.
Money wise I moved £2000 into a better rate saver and left £500 in my easy access one for any potential emergencies.
I decided to cancel the mortgage overpayment and instead increase my premium bond payment to £50 so that becomes my new emergency fund. I think it's more important to focus on the credit card debt for now. I can review the situation in the new year once I have received my back pay and know what actual credit card debt left will be.

I'm twitchy to make mortgage overpayments but agree that clearing the debt is better first. It will definitely help mentally once they're all cleared, rather than making small dents off the mortgage whilst still having the debts looming!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0 -
Yes exactly. I think I'd prefer to clear the debts and have a good amount of savings behind me. Then I will start making overpayments. Unfortunately due to my weight loss injections I think my debt free date is going to be pushed back. But it will be worth it because they are making such a difference for me.twiggy86 said:I'm twitchy to make mortgage overpayments but agree that clearing the debt is better first. Happy Thursday, my Friday off tomorrow wahoo I may even try and finish a bit early today as I have some flexi hours built up. It really depends how much work I have left to do.
Monzo early pay day happened so I have moved all my money into pots. Used the last of October's funds to buy a few groceries I'd forgotten. That should get me through to the weekend to do a proper shop.
Still no update on sofa delivery, still says delivery by 2nd so have to wait and see what happens. I hope it turns up soon as my office chair isn't the best to sit in especially when you've been sat on it all day anyway.
Friday is Nails and Nandos day, luckily I have a free red reward so that will be free. Though i will move the money into my Overpayment Pot.
I decided to do a prediction of the year ahead to get an idea of where my debt might be by end of December 25. It's not looking great, mostly due to my weight loss injections. But for me they are going to be worth it in the long run and hopefully I can find ways to cut back my spending. I also need to get on with selling items.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7000

Hope the new sofa arrives soon but I suppose the silver lining is all the de-cluttering you've been able to do.
your updated signature shows how well you are doing - great progress and great money saving/debt paying plans.1 -
Yes it's definitely helped not having the sofa there but now I just want to know when its going to arrive.Blackcats said:Hope the new sofa arrives soon but I suppose the silver lining is all the de-cluttering you've been able to do.

So the sofa saga continues. I contacted the company today as its supplied to have been delivered by tomorrow and not been dispatched yet. Turns out that they have had to cancel the order again as its now out of stock and they don't know when it will be back. So frustrating. I've decided to wait until Black Friday now before I start looking again and my brother is coming round tomorrow to help me move the sofa bed into the lounge. It will do for now.
Anyway today's spends have been
£15 on my nails
£5 on coffee (round up)
£4 on drink at Nandos as had a red reward wahooo. (Round up again)*Dad loan - £5300 - £7000

That's just typical isn't it? Hopefully you'll see something nicer and maybe save some money xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

The option I went with was the cheap option so now I'm considering getting a nicer one that lasts longer as this is 3rd one in 5 years. My brothers has lasted all that time and still in good condition. I know it's not very mse but I could look at getting it on 0% finance. Focus on paying the card off then overpay the finance after. I have time to decide but at least my credit card balance will go down once its been refundedWillowtree222 said:That's just typical isn't it?
