Is EPC worth it as part of your insurance?
I have buildings insurance as i'm in a small block of flats, and contents insurance. The contents insurance offers EPC but it pushes my quote up a good deal and having browsed the forums I'm not sure if it's worth it. Any advice would be welcome! Thank you.

If your boiler wont turn on at 6am in the middle of winter or you wake to find a river of crud flowing up and out your sink would you know who to call? Would you have the monies to pay their callout fees?
If the answer to both of these are yes then its likely you dont need the insurance and would be better off putting the monies aside into a rainy day fund for when one of these events happen. If the answer to either is no then it's certainly worth considering.
Be aware that Home Emergency cover varies significantly on what is and isnt covered and so make sure you understand what you are getting before buying. You may find one provider is much cheaper than all the rest, its good to check that its because they are just better value rather than its because their policy covers a quarter of what most others do.1 -
Thank you for your reply. It turns out that I had HEC anyway with my current insurer. They quoted me a higher rate but when I rang and said I had had lower quotes they were able to match them so I've stayed with them. Your post made me think it was worth it.0
