Virgin phone and broadband. Advice needed
I'm currently paying £54 pm (should be £63 but I have £9 discount) for Virgin broadband M200 and Talk More Anytime (now called Anytime chatter) I spoke to retentions and this was the best deal they could give me. (They threw in faster broadband which I probably didn’t need)
There's only me in the house and watch mainly catch up BBC/ITV using a Fire stick and use the internet for browsing so don't need high speed broadband. My package is up for renewal in December.
I’ve just received this e-mail from Virgin: Your contract’s coming to an end soon, but there's still time to renew it with our exclusive offer. Same package, same speeds, less hassle. For just a little extra a month*.So, why not save yourself the hassle of shopping around and renew today with this exclusive offer?
It doesn’t say how much the little extra a month will be or if the discount will still apply.
Am I paying too much for my present package? ..
Should I ignore this exclusive offer?
Any advice would be great.Comments

When Virgin announced the new RPI + 3.9% annual rises back in the Spring it gave me the chance to cancel my contract with them. I had been paying £35/month for M125 + Talk More Anytime.
An alternative broadband company had been digging up the roads near me and were offering me 150mb/s for under £25/month, though the call package wasn't so good.
A day after I cancelled, and well within the 30 days before my service was going to go off, VM called back, and I ended up agreeing a new 18 month deal for M250, Anytime chatter and a Stream From Virgin Media box (no activation fee) for £28/month.
I don't actually use the Stream From Virgin Media box now, as it seems no better than the TV's own apps.
But £28/month for M250 (since increased to M350 via Volt, due to my OH's O2 sim) and anytime calls, seems ok.
One warning, Anytime chatter does not include 0845 or 0870 calls, whereas Talk More Anytime did.
So I would say £54pm is a lot higher than you could get.
But you need to be willing to cancel (not just threaten to cancel), but you should be able to get a better deal well before the actual cut-off happens.1 -
What speed can you get with an ISP on a different network like Openreach ( or even an Alternative Network if one is available) , if all you need is catch up TV , browsing/ email etc from your broadband then it may be cheaper ( in the region of £25-£30 ) to use an ISP on the Openreach network, the broadband may ‘only’ be upto 80Mb but that may be more than you need , check what speed you could get using your address here ( use the menu to select address search )

I've just found that exclusive offer e-mail mentioned on the virgin forums. Someone said they signed up for the deal only to then be met with confusions and complications from Virgin. I think I'll give that offer a wide berth
