I find the buyer behaviour very rude

I sold 2 mouth gels for £11 and as I had a spare one was not going to use. I offered it to the buyer for an extra £4 leaving a note in the parcel either to pay by PayPal or give the money to charity. She has received the items but did not bother to say thank you or leave feedback. Not bothered about the £4 as the spare mouth gel was of no use to me so I thought she could make use if it.Next time will not  bother to be kind and will throw in the bin.

  • You told them to pay for something they didn't want by PayPal?

You're probably better off without a reply as I doubt it would have said "thank you"
  • Your intentions might have been in the right place - but had I received something I didn't buy and was asked to pay for it - I would feel a bit put out. In this case I would have paid £11 for two items (£5.50 each) - as that's what I wanted, and then the seller sent me an extra one saying 'I've sent you another one - this one is £4 - please pop the payment over on paypal or pay £4 to charity - thanks' - It would be more hassle than it was worth to send it back - and would potentially cause conflict by starting a message chain - it's just not worth it.

Either send people exactly what you've sold them - or if you want to add in an extra item - do it out of the goodness of your heart as a freebie. Don't ask people to pay for things they didn't order, even if it's charity donations. As I say - you probably had the right intentions - but easily misinterpreted.

I don’t understand why you even thought it a good idea to off load something you did not want to a customer and ask them to pay for it when they had already purchased two of the same items.  I would have been so annoyed I would have left some pretty bad feedback.
  • I’d be annoyed because you have my contact details and have tried to sell ‘on my doorstep’.

I would have opened a return, at your cost, and sent the extra back to you. Absolute cheek to send unsolicited and ask for payment, even with the charity redirect.

I’d also report you for violating policy: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/payment-policies/offers-buy-sell-outside-ebay-policy?id=4272

All of which might seem extreme, from your perspective, since it was just one extra of something ordered. But that would be my interpretation of things, as the buyer.

Seems very odd. Thowing in a freebie is one thing. Expecting payment and writing your payment terms is another

I'd be annoyed too not enough to leave negative feedback but I would be honest and it would be neutral

I'd be annoyed to find unsolicited goods in my parcel that the sender expected payment for.

Not getting any feedback is probably a good thing in this case !

I have been sent extras in the past, notably a whole box of Pokémon toys when my children were younger and I’d bought them just one each. Seller just said he had a fair few that his children didn’t want, the parcel weight remained the same so he thought he’d just send them, there was no suggestion at all that I make any offer of payment or donation to charity. I obviously thanked him .

I’m not sure how I would have felt if I’d been asked for payment or a donation, I think I would have been embarrassed and a little put out, possibly even asked for money for a return label to send them back rather than feel awkward about keeping them. I don’t think I  would have thanked the seller for putting me in an awkward position.

    Feedback is increasingly ignored.
There are some that still get excited about it but Ebay feedback seems to be going the same way as Amazon. Amazon is about 1 in 100 that leave feedback, I don't have enough sales on Ebay to say exactly but I'd guess it's 10-20% from buyers. As a seller mine is all automated on payment.
