Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's a damp grey start here, similar to yesterday.
Thanks for the good wishes everyone.
Sorry to hear you aren't well TA, hope you are feeling a bit better today.
We went for 'flu and Covid jabs yesterday, and I felt a bit achy and tired last night, but feel fine this morning, with just a bit of a tender arm.
We are both a bit anxious at the moment because dh has had a few health problems, and is awaiting the results of tests.
Worst case is that he''ll be advised not to undertake a long haul flight, and of course we are all set to go to Australia in December. All we can do is wait of course, and hope for the best.
Nothing planned for today, just the usual stuff.
Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts to our poorly people.9 -
I made the most of the dry and slightly sunny yesterday by getting a machine load of knickers washed, on the outside line and dried. May well be the last time this year. Today the weather is forecasted to get nasty again from this afternoon. I will probably rewatch Strictly by fast forwarding past the talking / gushing bits.Snoozer - you are missed, having nothing much to say hasn't stopped me. 😂😂 and you too Scarlet. (Edited).
DP1 - I how your little one is still enjoying nursery.TA - did the girls wolf down the pasta bake?
Nan - I hope that you're feeling a bit better today.
Hugs are being sprinkled down, better duck if you don't want one. Happy Sunday to all.9 -
Morning All
Back from my travels, the journey there was interesting - spells of lovely sunshine then monsoon rain so the spray on the motorway was awful. I stopped in Penrith for a bit of shopping on the way which broke up the journey a bit.
Coming back was good, a few slow bits for roadworks on the motorway and nice weather. Just got in and my Aunt phoned to see if I was ok - 'it's been 6 hours and I haven't heard that you're home' - that's because I have a tiny car that isn't comfortable for long journeys and I have to stop every now and again for a stretch and a toilet break! Anyway, she's better than I expected so all's good and she enjoyed my visit. My good cousin and her DH came over on Saturday too, lovely to see them.
Not much happening today, I'll have a rest day (although I have just cleaned out the fridge) so I'm all refreshed for having the little one tomorrow. If the heavy rain doesn't arrive I'll go out and tidy the garden as most has finished flowering and now looks messy.
Washing to do but that can stay inside.
Hope everyone is well and you all have a peaceful Sunday. Take care. XX8 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
I've had internet issues so had no TV, radio, apps and worst still COULDN'T WORK for a whole day. Something wrong in the road box apparently which affected 5 houses in our road. I will be making a complaint as we only switched to this provider 3 months ago and are forever having to reset the router. DH was away so DD and I had a games night, played Rummikub and read our books. Was very reminiscent of my 70s childhood - DD not impressed at all...
I had a phone call on Friday to say that the NHS job I interviewed for in July and got pipped at the post for by an internal candidate is mine if I want it!! The internal candidate hasn't worked out (not sure why....) and they are happy to wait for me to finish my notice period. So happy that I a) don't have to complete any more applications or attend interviews and b) I won't have a gap in employment/earnings. Plus I get to save the compensation payout from my current job. Relief all round.
Saw DS2 yesterday and took him for lunch. His new student house was spotlessly clean, possibly because he lives with 4 girls! We had a nice lunch out in Canterbury and had a walk around - such a lovely city. DD hasn't heard anything about her grades query @nannywindow - doubt anything will happen with that. In the meantime, she is still working at the primary school without a contract or wages. Need to get that sorted this week.
I'm off to Aldi shortly for the weekly shop. We are having SW chicken biryani for dinner. There's housework to do today and I will tidy some pots in the garden provided it stays dry.
Hope you're feeling brighter @TravellingAbuela x
I love hearing everyone's news and often think mine is very boring, so please do post @ScarletRibbons. Hope DH test results turn out okay x
Hugs to all those in need.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. A cloudy start for us and I think rain is promised for later.
I'm still feeling a bit grotty and the shivering came back through the afternoon. Accompanied by coughing which felt as though I had sharp knives in my throat! DS rang to see how I was as they have all gone down with Covid and he says they have never felt as ill. His DP has been in bed since Wednesday. She must feel bad as she isn't one to give in. easily. The way I have been feeling it prompted me to do a test. Fortunately it was negative but I'll do another test just in case as I am booked for a flu jab tomorrow and don't want to infect anybody.
Yes GERS the girls wolfed down the pasta bake and all but licked out the serving dish!! I tried watching Strictly but I felt so ill and weary I dozed off in the middle! Fortunately I had recorded it so will watch again once the girls go home this afternoon. The youngest said there are too many old people this time! Nevertheless she was impressed by Angela R in view of her age.. I wish I was as agile as her.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. SCARLET I hope DH's results reveal nothing to worry about. GERS Snoozer was going to Jersey, not sure for how long. Take care all and be safe xx

Morning everyone
It's rained all night here but stopped now - I have my bedding in the machine so I'll get that hung outside before I go down to spend the morning with my dad. Mam is going to church this morning.
If it stays fine this afternoon I'll maybes get some tidying done in the garden.
Eldest DD starts her journey home today - she's just been texting that she feels awful - diarrhoea and being sick - she's still at the hostel, they have given her tablets and she says they're being really kind to her.
Gers - yes little one is still loving school. She stayed at mine on Friday night and she was full of what shes been up to - they'd picked apples from the tree in the Reception garden so we made apple crumble. It was funny cos she told me all about picking these apples, she'd obviously forgotten that the garden, and the apple tree, are right next to nursery garden and I'd both seen and heard her picking them!
We went to our local cinema yesterday to watch Beauty and the Beast, shown to mark 100 years of Disney films - she really enjoyed it, I did too - next week they're showing Toy Story. We went to the cafe at the cinema for lunch, where she told her friends (The waitresses) how much she's enjoying school. Then a quick visit to the library to tell the librarians the same and choose some new books. She was very happy because her favourite librarian was there, I've known her since our girls went to first school together - the same school little one is at now. So many people know the story of her being born so early and being so ill and have always asked after her, so of course they're so pleased she's now happily at school.
Well I've waffled long enough that my washing is done so I''ll get it out on the line. hope everyone has a good day today x10 -
@Coxy11 great news about the new job, and the bonus lump sum! What will you be doing in the NHS & where? (I'm an EA at Alder Hey when not off sick 😉)

Morning all. Dull here today so I hope it stays dry.
Today is our daughter's first wedding anniversary and we've just been messaging some photos and memories with them. It was much warmer than this last year!
Yesterday we went out in DH's new car. I'm definitely not used to him driving an automatic but it is a lot smoother and easier than his previous car. He's set up his phone via Bluetooth but hasn't yet needed to get to grips with the SatNav; before he just put his phone up in a holder and programmed that. When we got back we managed to finish the weeding in the back garden, which now looks quite neat. We'll have to prune the plum tree before too long and I usually chop a bit off the Buddleia this time of year but that can wait for another day.
Later on I'm out playing for one of my Morris sides at a garden party, hosted by a friend of one of the dancers. I'll check the weather forecast later as its over an hour's drive away and might be chilly and wet. I'll put the slow cooker on in a while as I bought a beef short rib at the butchers as I'm not sure what time I'll be back to eat tonight.
Congratulations on the job offer Coxy11. I hope you find it enjoyable.
Hope everyone's Sunday goes well.9 -
Morning all, after a sunny day yesterday when I got all the washing and bedding dry we've have lots of rain overnight. It's thankfully stopped now but it's soggy outside.
Dad is coming over for lunch and tea today, I hope he's got his happy head on as these new tablets are playing havoc with my system and I can't put up with any nonsense. We'll have a roast lunch then sandwiches and apple pie ( found in the freezer) with custard /ice cream for tea.
Wicked lady enjoy the new car.
Coxy I do hope DD is successful and good luck with your new job 🤞
Izzy well done volunteering.
Scarlet my fingers are crossed that DH is ok and you get your trip to Australia.
TA I hope you feel better very soon.
dp1 hope your eldest DD manages to get home ok and feels better soon.
Camelot glad your Aunt is better and you got to see "good" cousin.
Gers have you been waving your knickers about on the line again ? 😁
Take care all, stay safe and well.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently7
