Our rational is less about laziness...

    1) Its saved us having to rewire the ceiling lights which had really odd groupings on the two switches, these are now broken down into 4 groups based on how we use the space

    2) Enables lights to dim and go warmer as the evening progresses. Dimming LED bulbs is tricky at best and certainly changing the colour of the light through the process would be more than just a pain with different bulbs with different colour ratings

    3) Would love to see anyone over 5 being able to get to the plug switch of our Christmas tree without breaking any of the glass decorations

Having already got bulbs we do then have some laziness use but it'd be silly not to having made the investment.

    Smart plugs?

If you want to save electricity don't use it or failing that pull plug out of wall when finished using What ever it is you're using

For those devices with a standby function , the amount of electricity consumed whilst in standby is negligible

Smart plugs are only good to control devices or using things like geofencing and even then when did we become a bunch of lazy asses who can no longer be bothered to get up to flick a light switch on/off?
When they invented smart devices......Pretty obvious really...🙄

Monitor how much power the smart plugs use.  I found some use more power than leaving a device on standby.

Funnily enough, I acquired a smart plug as part of a package deal with the lightbulbs/hub that I actually wanted. The only use I've found for the thing is the Xmas tree lights where, as everyone else has found, the plug is inaccessible to anyone over five.

Impresses the kids the first time you say "Alexa, fire up the Christmas tree".
