Air-to-air heat pumps are regarded as air-conditioners, so no grants available, AFAIK.

Sadly, our government seems to have decided that air-to-air heatpumps are unworthy of the £7.5k grant.
I think both of these posts answer your question?
It's a gas boiler with a heat exchanger which is then blown around the system...

Not sure why we are on the subject of heat pumps because that's not what this is.

  • The boiler upgrade scheme is to help with going from gas to a heat pump, not for buying another gas boiler.

I've found something called ECO4 which doesn't explicitly state it has to be a ASHP so I'll enquire via that route.

  • You'll need a poor EPC before your qualify for ECO4 and also be in receipt of a benefit beyond the state pension.

I get letters every few weeks offering ECO4 help, because they trawl the EPC records looking for likely candidates. I only get a state pension but don't qualify for additional benefits so not eligible for ECO4.

When I've spent my savings bringing the house up to EnerPHit standard, then I'd probably qualify. Catch 22.
