Student grants and loans - parents have a dependent disabled child

Options
Hi. I'm a disabled parent and carer for a disabled child. I'm looking for advice about student finance. I'm not working. I don't get any benefits except child benefit and carers allowance. Disabled child gets DLA until 16.

Question - will student finance assessment take into account that we have a disabled child when working our our contribution?

My daughter (not disabled) is applying for a university place living away from home outside London. Three or four year psychology course.

I know what our contribution will be but the forms I've filled in ask about number of children but not disability. I'm new to this and want to make sure we do everything correctly.

They look at the taxable income of the people in your household. They won't include the DLA that your child gets to help towards the cost of managing their disabilities.

The form is here, so you can see that they ask for information about dependents.
