Wales - Help To Buy Question

Hi All
Hoping to use help to buy.
Partner has sold her house.
My house is having a kitchen fitted and a few improvements and as such isn't ready for sale yet.
However, have seen a new build house we want to purchase that will be on the market in the next week or so.
Have been told in general chat, by estate agent, that we won't be able to use help to buy as my house will have to be on the market and have an offer on it. Can afford the purchase price with a small mortgage, without the sale of my house. Intend to sell once refit done.
Anyone know if that is correct.
Thanks all

I know that not all lenders accept help to buy Wales, so make sure they do before you apply.1

I think the estate agent is referring to
- not be renting your existing home and buying a 2nd home through the scheme
Are you intending to buy from a participating builder?

but when you buy you would be buying a second home as you already own one.
Intending to sell in a few months doesn't count.0
