If somebody visits to read without logging in it won't show in their visit stats.

Also if you don't log out your next view activities won't be added to any stats. If you stay logged in for a month it only shows a single visit.

I've done this many times. And there have been sizeable periods when I didn't log on to read threads, but only logged if I wanted to post a reply.

If they made 2 posts on 2 days nearly a month apart in one visit they never logged out. They could have read these comments a thousand times without the stats picking it up.

I do not believe a person, angry or not, would make 2 posts and NEVER check back for replies.

If the replies are not helpful but mainly critical, hostile and prejudgmental I CAN imagine them deciding not to respond further.

And if they were an anger-venting troll they would have posted tens to hundreds of comments, not just 2.

Ah I see, didn't realise that's how it works.

We have sort had that on the benefits board, someone posts a long ranty post asking for help, doesn't respond, and then months later they post a similar thing again and it turns out they'd forgotten they originally posted (or sometimes they came back but couldn't find their thread and just left), but that is different from this situation.  And good point about actual troll behaviour.

Thanks. To be honest Spoonie it took hours of thinking and back- forth checking to work it out for myself and attempt a "logical" explaination. Even so there are probably still inacuracies in my "technical" reasoning although they wouldn't change the conclusions.

(Middle of last century Mummy and Daddy talked to me about stuff like "Giving the benefit of Doubt". I guess it stuck.)
