New extension boundary question.

We live in a semi detached bungalow and are having a rear extension built which is part rendered. As we are situated on a corner the extension runs just slightly off the original boundary line (on our side) which our current neighbour is aware of. At the moment we have a nice neighbour who would allow us to paint and maintain it with no issue as and when needed, however she is now mooting the idea of moving. I'm wondering now if she is going to move, whether we should run a bit of boundary fencing down the original line so future proofing against potential owners who won't respect the boundary and potentially lean things/attach things etc against the wall.  Am I worrying too much?

A fence is always a good idea, but how much of a gap are we talking about ?
If it is only a few inches, it is hardly worth the effort. For a foot or two, I'd recommend concrete posts & gravel boards along with some good quality panels - Wooden posts will rot within 10 years, so put in concrete that will outlast your tenure.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • I agree with FreeBear, it depends on the gap. With a fence up will there be room to do any maintenance or decoration to that wall? Personally I wouldn't mind if neighbours lean things against my wall or attach things to it, they're the ones who have to look at it.
