Eon Next Pledge tracker v2

My Eon next V11 fixed 2 year ends in March. Shall I change to the Pledge tracker v 2 tariff now for a better deal?

  • That really depends on a number of things.

    Are you a risk taker?
What's you energy mix all elec, gas and elec
    Do you have solar/EV/batteries

The answer is very complex these days.

I am not a risk taker. I use gas and electric and no EV charger. I called Eon today and it is CHEAPER for me to stay as I am

Martin L seems to disagree with you:

That said, you would need to do your own calculation based on annual usage in kWh not £s.

Martin was referring to customers who are on Next Flex variable tariff, person you replied to took out a 2 year fix approx March 22.

Fair enough. I did caveat my response with ‘do your own calculation based on annual usage in kWh not £s’ - particularly, if CS is looking at estimated annual usage.
  • Not sure if I can add to the debate. Since July 2 I have been on E.ON's "Next Loyalty 12M Fixed Rate - July 23 Issue 1"
My annual usage for gas is 11618kWh and for electricity is 3458kWh. That would cost £2198.79. At the currently applicable NextFlex rate (July price cap) that would cost £2345.46. On my most recent statement E.ON told me for electricity "Good news, you're already on our cheapest tariff.". For gas they told me: "Our cheapest similar tariff is Next Pledge Tracker 12m V2 - you could save £76.85 a year by switching to this.". But would they let me just switch the gas? I somehow doubt it. The combined cost on that tariff would be £2144.01. Which is £54.79pa less than my current tariff. But the Tracker  and NextFlex will both change after 1 October. I think I will leave well alone.

You need to do the sums  based on the tariff that you've got at the moment, the tariff that you've been offered and the potetial for it to increase in January.

You need to use the cost per kwh and standing charge)and your actual consumption in kwh, not guesses, estimates or monthly DD costs, especially those from Eon. As MFB says above, it's a gamble but you can do your own calculations to see what the risk might be for jumping or staying put until March.

I dont know what your present tariff fix is is but bear in mind that you are now going into the winter when your consumption of gas will increase significantly so you need to factor in any cost difference and the fact that the present energy price cap is forecast to increase in January with a possibility of it decreasing again next April.

According to a thread your 2 year fixed rate tariff was regarded as being the same as April 2022 energy cap which was cheaper than current energy cap - 1 April 2023- 30 September 2023
