Conveyancer negligence

Hi all,

Has anyone else sued/claimed on your conveyancing solicitors for negligence/bad work? I've had just a terrible time with them for over 15 months and wanted to hear your stories?
I'm feeling very scared about taking the step so encouragement and words of advice would be most welcome!!

If you want useful advice, you'll need to tell us what you're claiming for.

    ^^ This

But below I've kindly linked to your other thread where you're trying to claim a refund on a management pack where the buyer pulled put on completion day. (So there's 6 months gone). Thankfully you found another  buyer though (so there's another 6 months...)

    They won't have a case
  • If OP can prove either "negligence/bad work" then there might be a case. But the way to go is first via an internal complaint and then via the SRA.

  • Did you select solicitor/conveyancer on the basis that they were the cheapest.?

as others have said, other people's experiences won't be relevant - you need to explain what, specifically, your conveyancer did (or didn't do) which you think is negligent, what you would be wanting to claim, and what you have done so far.

Your first steps would be to make a formal complaint to the conveyancers - your original client care letter / terms of business will probably set out what the complaints process is, you need to follow that, to start with.

if you are not satisfied with the outcome you can then look at referring the issue to the legal ombudsman

Negligence and bad work are two very different things. You need to be clear about which you are saying had happened.

If you are claiming they were negligent, was it resolved and if not, what loss have you suffered / what needs to be done to resolve the issue?

If you say 'bad work' what do you mean? Delays? Failures to follow your instructions? overcharging?

All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)
