benefits for ear deafness

Hi! my name is ian i would like to know if im entitled to any benefits. i read about ear deafness about a month ago (i might have otosclerosis). i read on gov web sight you can't claim after 5 years once you retire (i am 73)is this correct because i have just read about it. i would like to know what you think

No.  You can claim Attendance Allowance over retirement age if you need someone to help you or keep you safe during the day and/or night due to a disability or health condition.  You have to have needed the help for at least 6 months.
