As DH needed diesel in his car took the opportunity to visit Lidl and Sainsbury and have spent £43.85 in total and now have £156.15 remaining. Got a really good Lidl £1.50 fruit and veg box in that amount - the potatoes in it were worth nearly that on their own.5

Quick update spend so far this month £255/£680.
I tend to spend more in the second half of the month, after payday on 15th (13th this month)
I have a long list and I will start at Aldi and then pick up the rest from Tesco and get a few points.
I have been meal planning this week and that's working out cheaper as we're buy ahead or getting stuff out of the freezer the night before so no need to get home tired, wonder what to have for dinner then thinking "sod it, I'll get a takeaway or buy some ready meals "
Feeling in control which is where I like to be.

I did a top up shop in the town centre yesterday with a short list that I pretty much managed to stick to so I'm feeling quite pleased with myself for that. I bought 4x milk, 1kg yoghurt, 3x radishes, 5x bananas and YS salad from M*rks for £7.36 and then annoyingly had to go on to Sainsby's to buy gluten free oat milk as M*rks were out of stock. That turned out quite well as I was able to take advantage of a N*ctar price and paid £1.75 instead of £2.25 but I did have to fight my urge to look at other parts of the shop just in case.
The bananas and the oat milk were for this recipe I made early this morning which was a roaring success, one of my friends ate three slices this afternoon, so it's gone into my successful bakes folder.
That makes the Baking Fund total £2.63/£20.
My new monthly total is £54.17/£170 and my average daily spend is £4.92.5 -
I am making a store-cupboard pasta bake this evening (the ragu is made and in the fridge) the pasta is in the house and so is the flour, butter and cheese for the sauce. I did have to buy milk (DH drank it!), so got 4 pints as I think we are heading into stewed fruit and custard season! £54 spent this month with only the milkman DD this week (£7.25)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Hello all, September was a very busy month. Didn't post on the thread at all. But i have kept a tally of spends. Since I last posted in August, I've spent only £111.70. However i realised today that I've been using my Iceland bonus card every time I shop there. Each time you top up £20 they add £1 to your total, so really I need to take £7 off the years spends. Total to add now is £104.70. Total spent to date is now £1506.68/£1860. This leaves only £353.32 for the last two and half months of the year. We will probably go to my sister for Christmas, so should be achievable. I am again trying to run down the freezers and cupboards!

I've got a shopping delivery arriving today to restock everything I'm running out of including dishwasher tablets. I've always used the posh branded ones because I really hate the smell of some others I've tried. I feel like they make the dishes smell really chemically. Anyway, I'm trying again with some Asda ones as they're so much cheaper. 🤞 they don't make me heave!
I've got some soup and veg chilli to use up today so no cooking required but I'm going to do some batch cooking again at the weekend to make next week easier. I've got some veggie mince in the freezer which I might use to make a lasagne and I seem to have a lot of cabbage in the fridge so I'm thinking some sort of cabbage and coconut curry with chickpeas for a bit of heft. I might try and find an easy sweet and sour sauce recipe as well and attempt to persuade DS to like something new. I can live in hope!
Anyway, I've spent £61.22 on today's shop so that brings my total to £65.62/£2505
