Italian Speed Ticket

Seen this discussed before however most posts were relatively old and I think the situation is different.
Came back from Italy last month and received a traffic fine for speeding. I hired the car and the company have charged a fee for sending a copy of the letter via email which has been paid.
The speeding fine is for 183 euros!
Although I hired the car, both myself and my partner drove throughout the trip and were both registered to drive with the hire company. The photo taken from the speed camera is of the back of the car and does not identify which one of us was driving.
Can the fine actually follow us back to the UK? I will happily not drive again in Italy - the toll roads, low speed limits with hidden speed cameras, and other drivers tailgating is off-putting. I've read that it only stands for 5 years, however I will be definitely entering other EU countries in this time.
Will this make a difference entering EU countries?
I'd pay the fine for peace of mind but I'm also expecting toll fines as I found these rather confusing, and don't think it will be affordable to pay them all!

I doubt they could do anything to you here in the UK. There is no jurisdiction. I wouldn't worry about a European Arrest Warrant being issued for you, so driving elsewhere in the EU shouldn't be a problem. As to whether it ever times out? Who knows?
