I am a member of a Pure Gym (another 24-hr gym chain) and no mechanism exists to boot people out,
I am a member of a gym that is not 24-hour but we do have multi-site access.
At my home gym, you scan your card on the way in but just walk out.
At the next gym we visit, there is a turn-style system (rather more like the underground) and you slide your card through a slot on the way in and the way out.
It would seem entirely plausible to me that a 24-hour gym which is unmanned at certain times would have a system more like the latter, so tap in and tap out (or swipe, or scan, whatever).
In fact, this seems entirely logical for an unmanned venue as that "tap in - tap out" approach would also mean that an occupancy level could be available for emergency services if ever required, e.g. fire0 -
Yes the app I have tells me how many people are currently in the gym.
The only point was at 6am nobody is going to wander up to him and tell him to leave. Its feasible the gym may get the hump when they find out he is constantly leaving at 7am (his exit will be logged) and force him onto the full membership, but he will have to clarify their policy on that.0
