You had a payment of UC therefore you qualify.

Have a tax credit award for this year (appx £500) but not actually receiving payment as have overpayment from a couple of years ago.
Will we still be entitled to the £300 payment?
I've tried googling but not entirely clear
    Thanks

Would it not be simpler to give is an extra £17.31 a week for a year?

At the risk of straying into policy - yes, but for one thing that would then bring cries of 'benefits cut' when they stopped it after a year - which is exactly what happened when they stopped the £20 covid uplift so they want to avoid it happening again.
(There are other reasons for paying it in chunks, but they are all due to policy which we are not supposed to discuss here).
  • I received a payment from Uni Credit in August but had a nil payment in September. Qualifying period for second COL payment overlaps August and September so was wondering if I'll qualify for it?

The qualifying period for the next CoL payment for UC is you must have been entitled to a payment (or later became entitled to a payment) for an assessment period that ended between 18th August and 17th September. What dates do your assessment periods cover?
  • Hi apologies I received a payment in September and a nil payment in October. Qualifying period for Sep was 31st July to 30 Aug, while Oct period was 31 Aug to 29 Sep.
    Bit confusing 😕

You need to look at when your assessment period ended because it needs to end between the qualifying period, 18th August to 17th Sept.

Therefore your qualifying period will be 31st July to 30th August because this assessment period ended within the qualifying period. If you were entitled to a payment in September then you qualify.
