Accidental Damage Claim

Hi all,
After some advise, I needed to repaint my bannister as the paint was worn and chipped. The previous paint job was not great so decided to strip back using a heatgun. I used the smallest nozzle near the bottom but didnt realise the residual heat melted the edge of the carpet as I was wearing a mask so couldnt smell it.
My insurance does cover accidental damage but not sure if this would be acceptable and wondered if anyone had any advise please?
Thanks

Does the carpet only cover the hallway? The main issue with carpet claims is where someone has a matching carpet across multiple rooms but because they dont have Matching Set cover on their insurance the insurer only replaces the carpet in the room it was damaged meaning they now have non-matching carpets.
May be worth getting a quote for replacement and check your excess to make sure its worth claiming.1
