Windows 11 blocking McAfee

Since finally downloading WIndows 11 on my laptop yesterday, I am unable to access updates to McAfee.  Not happy!  Anyone know how to solve this?

I can't give a direct answer but, when I asked a question about 3rd party anti-virus with Windows 11, I was told that the inbuilt AV software is as good as any and to stop wasting money on it.

Unless its free (e.g. Norton comes with BT) or you find some other components of Mcafee useful (e.g. password manager, backup...)  then you don't need to pay for anti-virus with Windows11.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

I would remove and then reinstall McAffe from scratch.

Like others above, I use the inbuilt AV in Windows 11.

Get rid of Mcffee.  You don't need it.  Use the built in Windows anti virus (Defender).

Uninstall McAfee. It is unnecessary and worse than a virus in terms of slowing down your computer.

  • It should also be mentioned that you should not uninstall it using the built-in Windows uninstall methods. The best way is to use using the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool, (MCPR), which they themselves make available for download, and update regularly.

That's not what MCPR is intended for.  It tells you on the website use WIndows Add/Remove programs first, and then MCPR if that fails.  "You must only use the MCPR tool if the Windows removal methods shown above don't work" says the website.
