How to confirm PCN cancellation

Hi
A PCN was received recently from ECP for a double dip at a local sainsburys, with a visit to another town in between (no location tracking, but we do have timestamped receipts). I immediately went with Plan A, and went in to the store to request that it be resolved. The store manager wasn't immediately available, but when we returned to the desk, she told us that she had cancelled the charge while we were elsewhere in the store, but that she could not provide any written confirmation.
How do we confirm that the PCN is cancelled? Is it a case of logging in to ECP to either pay or appeal in a few days? Or should we pre-emptively appeal anyway?
