Theatre Ticket insurance

Hi my flight home was delayed 7 days due to Air Traffic Control chaos. During that week, I had theatre tickets worth £110 and had pre-paid insurance in case I missed the show. The Insurance company declined my claim stating. "Your refund application has been closed as not covered. As per the terms and conditions of the ticket protection Travel Delay means a delay commencing on the day of the Event where you are starting your travel in the country where your Event is being held." It is a large insurance company. Is it right that they do not have to include a Right to Appeal?

Its not clear... are you claiming on your travel insurance that the theatre tickets were a consequential loss of the delay or are you claiming on some insurance bought with the Theatre tickets?
Assuming its a UK insurer (or Gibraltar etc) then you have the right to complain about their decision and escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman if you are unhappy about their response to your complaint (or 8 weeks pass without a response). Details of the complaints process should be in the terms of the policy.0 -
Are you claiming on "Missed Event Insurance" such as Allianz and sold via Ticketmaster when you buy the theatre tickets?Melodymusic said:Hi my flight home was delayed 7 days due to Air Traffic Control chaos. OR, are you claiming from your travel insurance policy?
OR, are you seeking to claim compensation from the airline?0
