Can an Energy Company reclaim a refund from an ex-customer after 8 months?

If you are still reading OP, follow the energy company's complaint's procedure and politely ask them why they didn't issue a final bill within 60 days
Given they issued a refund, surely something must have been produced in December 2022?
That is how I read the OP’s post. This is a corrected bill that is only constrained by the Statute of Limitations in respect of debt recovery. It would just be a waste of time making a complaint.

Unless the OP is prepared to post both bills, nobody on here can say if the recent request for nearly 70 quid is ligit.
The energy company have already demonstrated they can't bill OP correctly, either they issued 2 bills and it would be wise to check which is correct or they didn't previously issue a final bill and the compensation is due.

Given the 56 day time for raising to the ombudsman starts when you raise the complaint it's wise to use the complaints process for any queries except very general questions about i.e what tariff you are on.

My money is on the former.

Would be nice to see both bills.
