Advance Residual Beneficiary Payment

Thanks again for all help provided by the forum on the interim payment issue. This has now gone ahead and I understand the beneficiary has gifted money to his son to assist in his first house purchase. However requests are being made by the son's solicitor to the "Giftor" for a copy of the Grant of Probate & a letter from the "lay executor" confirming the amount of inheritance and the date of distribution. Should I be sending copies of the Grant of Probate to a third party? Since the money doesn't come to the son directly from the inheritance, should my brother be providing information of the gift he has given from the interim payment he received? (He has a signed receipt for the interim payment made to him) Thanks for your help.0

My sister and I gifted a lump sum each from an inheritance for a house deposit to my son and did have to provide an amount of documentation (including ID) and fill in assorted forms for the mortgage lender and solicitors. So I think it's pretty standard to be asked for it under anti-money laundering measures. I can't remember exactly what we sent, but know that it was very thorough. We were both the executors and main beneficiaries.
Just to add - the will and Probate docs are publicly available for £1.50 ‐ so there's no reason to withhold them.1
