want to use my microphone so my voice is heard on the speakers

Hi,
I have bought a couple of karaoke dvds for my daughter.
I just had to test them out this evening!!
Does anyone know how I can push my voice out from the microphone (which i know works as I use skype) onto the desktop speakers along with the music from the dvd??
I use an acer laptop with XP

ok - new plan!
i am going to send the audio out of the laptop to my hifi (decent sony) and then use a microphone going into the hifi on karaok mode.....
that all seems like a good idea untl i try the desktop microphone in the hifi - doesnt work!!
bu it does on the laptop
is this becuase you need a different microphone to use on the hifi ??

not knowing the inputs, mike or specifications, sounds like you are on the right track. Ther are different kinds of mikes. There in no special 'hifi' mike, just different types. The pc card works with at least 2 type of mikes and support nonpowered mikes and I've only tried 1 powered mike on it and that worked too.

Think ideally you will feed the outputs of karaoke and mike into a mixer and feed the this output into the aux input. Some amps allow this without buying a mixer.

Go to the sound panel, then untick the mute button for microphone.
