An impossible question to answer unless you tell us your kWh/year for each fuel and whether you are looking for a fixed or variable tariff.0

Depends on your usage.Consult a comparison site.0

Willingness/ability to make use of either specialised or Time of Use tariffs (different unit rates for different times of day or days of the week, with some optional varying day-to-day) potentially is also one of the biggest factors in choosing the “best” deal.Generally these tariffs will require a functioning smart meter and some degree of active involvement in managing energy use, but can offer significant savings for those able to take advantage of them. Octopus have some good options here but it all depends on how you as an individual use your energy.
Your own appetite for risk is also important, would you be comfortable on a tariff which may go up or down over the year or do you think locking in a single fixed rate for a period of time would be preferable?Moo…0 -

Does it make any difference if one pays via fixed/variable direct debit?

Does it make any difference if one pays via fixed/variable direct debit? The cost will be the same but monthly variable DD means you can earn interest rather than give it to your supplier and also be alerted earlier about any unexpectedly high usage.Of course it means low bills in summer and high bills in winter.1
