Hi
Daughter has got her driving test in a couple of weeks. Getting insurance cheaper Martin says you should get it 23 days ahead. Can I take out a policy and assume she will pass ahead of time?

That would be extremely wasteful if she doesn't pass. The 23 day advice is for insurance renewals
Also you may not actually be able to buy it in the first place if she hasn't passed yet.1 -
Thanks so much. If my current insurer quotes crazy price and I can find it cheaper elsewhere, can I cancel current insurance and take out new one? Sorry it’s a minefield out there 😁

Insurers will apply cancellation fees in most cases, in some cases this will wipe out any potential saving anyway.
This is the case for all drivers, not just new ones.0 -
You would be making a false declaration by saying she has a full licence if you do it in advance.1

After my son passed, he (nor I) could not drive the car home (2 minutes away) because his learner licence insurance was no longer valid - he was no longer a learner driver. He walked home, updated insurance, and paid a shocking amount more, walked back to test centre and drove car home. Just something to be aware of!0

How did they get on in the end?0
