So my teenage son has been gifted a car, old Skoda, by his gran. Quotes are coming up at 1700 if car is based at his Uni. It's simply unaffordable to him. Does anyone have any links or useful tips on specialist companies? Marmalade has been recommended. many thanks.

Have you read through this? https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance/how-to-get-cheap-car-insurance/Whether telematics is a good idea obviously depends on how your son will drive the car...

Unfortunately £1700 sounds about right for his age and circumstances. I think you'll struggle to get it much cheaper, although it could be a lot worse.0

Some companies will lower if you agree to install a blackbox to monitor driving. May be worth asking.
My colleague only recently passed his test and has one. I think it's on his phone as he's said he has to switch it to passenger mode if hes in someone elses car.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
