I do answer some eBay enquiries.  But experience has shown me that the vast majority of people asking questions are looking for reasons NOT to buy the item.  These message exchanges can be very time consuming and rarely lead to a sale.  So if you ask me whether the flange-doodle would fit a 10inch whatsit I will just say "no". And if your initial enquiry is aggressive or fussing about the price I will just block.  I spend a lot of time up front with detailed descriptions and decent photographs and if that's not enough, then I'm not your seller and that is fine.
    On a mission.

That would be enough for me if your detailed descriptions included actual measurements and not just sizes. (This mainly relates to clothes).
Even a dress by the same retailer in the same size can differ.
I have 2 Next sleeveless shift dresses, same style.
The size 10 is actually bigger than the size 14.
That's why the OP (and me) want to know actual measurements as unlike with Next where you can return something that doesn't fit, a purchase of a size 10 dress that is clearly labelled size 10 isn't classed as SNAD - even if it fits like a size 14.

There are some questions though that absolutely stump me and I’m sure sometimes my answers seem curt.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was selling a vintage necklace, I measured it end to end and gave that measurement, I showed it both laid flat on a board and displayed on a dressmakers dummy and I got a question ‘how far down the cleavage does this go?’ Surely if an exact drop was needed then a bit of string the same length tried around the neck would suffice as an idea, but how do I answer that question to a level that doesn’t invite an SNAD .

That's a silly question because not everybody's neck is the same and depending on how good your bra is, your cleavage can be much higher than somebody's whose bust has gone south.
I buy necklaces that fit close to my neck (choker/collar style) and I only need to know the length and see photos that show how articulated it is.
I would have replied that the length is clearly shown and I am unable to guesstimate how it would for someone I've never met.

I did sell a silver collar of substantial weight and stated the length in the description and showed in photos.
The buyer messaged me to say it didn't fit as she wanted but did not open a case as I guess she knew I would have contested it.
