If there ever was a battery for me, this would likely be it!HiApart from the aesthetics and having a single source manufacturer solution in one box, what's the benefit over something like a Victron Multiplus solution which effectively provides the same technical benefits when correctly specified and installed, with the added advantage of likely providing a more future-proofed scalable solution at a lower initial price?Just curious - Z"We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit. I'm a fan of Victron. That said, 3 points appear to favour Tesla:
1) Victron installer base is arguably more niche than Tesla
2) Tesla aftesales/ tech support is good.
3) App integration is market leading
Not sure if the Multiplus can match the disclosed specifications (charge/ discharge rate of 11.5 kWh as an example)? but if it can then it is definitely a viable alternative.- 10 x 400w LG Bifacial + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial + 2 x 570W SHARP Bifacial + 5kW SolarEdge Inverter + SolarEdge Optimizers. HiI believe their 48/10000 is rated for 8kW continuous at typical operating temperatures, peaking to 18kW for a supposedly decent time-span (minutes, not seconds!) and there are unit options both larger (eg 15/27kW) & smaller to suit individual requirements. What I do like is that their units can be fully operated & data/performance interrogated without access to on-line services, which is probably a decent thing when considering outages or suppliers not maintaining on-line services, ramping up costs of those services, or going bump ...HTH - Z"We are what we repeatedly do, excellence then is not an act, but a habit. @Screwdriva not many victron installs around, have you had any experience?“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu
System 1 - 14 x 250W SunModule SW + Enphase ME215 microinverters (July 2015)
System 2 - 9.2 KWp + Enphase IQ7+ and IQ8AC (Feb 22 & Sep 24) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump0 -
Just one - took a full day to commission and this was a long time ago. Definitely not a plug and play solution but to ZE's point, highly customizable and good performance when done. Definitely worth hunting down an experienced installer.ispookie666 said:@Screwdriva not many victron installs around, have you had any experience?- 10 x 400w LG Bifacial + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial + 2 x 570W SHARP Bifacial + 5kW SolarEdge Inverter + SolarEdge Optimizers. Have you seen any detail on the Tesla "Backup Switch" which looks like it might be a more practical alterbative to the Backup Gateway, at least in our case.Screwdriva said:Quite alot of praise before launch!0 -

Looks like it has finally launched. Priced at £6.3K + installation including Gateway (which itself costs £800 and is expected to be deprecated soon in favour of a more software based solution)- 10 x 400w LG Bifacial + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial + 2 x 570W SHARP Bifacial + 5kW SolarEdge Inverter + SolarEdge Optimizers. What interests me the most, is that the PW3 has 3 MPPT's, allowing for direct connection of additional PV, such as ground mount, without DNO issues.Screwdriva said:https://www.tesla.com/en_gb/powerwall

Note - obviously the PW3 will need DNO approval as you're adding a grid-tied power source, even if under a zero export application, but the PV would be behind the PW3 and piggyback off the battery's approval. And of course, other hybrid battery/inverter options already exist.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
