Hi,
I work for for main water supplier in my area, we often get called to emergencies and also have planned work each day.
some of our assets are situated on private land but we have a legal easement to work on them.
I was given a job by my employer to attend a hotel as our water meter chambers lid's were seized and needed to be made accessible. This chamber was situated on the hotels car park.
I attended the location and worked on the chamber for approx. 15 minutes making it accessible. My role requires me to park at my location of the job as we require tools, some that are heavy and other devices for the various tasks I do.
The company received a parking fine from the hotel and the finance / accounts person emailed me and said its my responsibility to either challenge it or pay it.
I am not the registered keeper of the vehicle the water company is. We can drive any of the company vans at any point in time for work only.
I'd like to add the emergencies we respond to can range from flooding/ homes flooding and even life threatening leaks and we have to park in all manner of locations, many on double yellows and reds. We always have a job sent to us on our computers for any task we have. I've asked work for clarification on parking on double yellows and reds for the work we do.
I did some digging at work and found that if the company require us to park on double yellows or reds there is a process for our planning department to contact the council and be issued with a notice that allows us to park on the double yellows or reds.
what do you guys think about the fine for the hotel job?

If it's a private parking firm just send an email to the Hotel Manager, or call them and tell them to get their greedy scammer agents to cancel it forthwith.
A private charge from a Hotel site is not a fine. It's an invoice and the Hotel can cancel it.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks, it it goes sideways where do you think I stand with work trying to make me pay it? as I was sent there by them and that we have a legal easement to work on our assets wich means we can be at and work at where ever our assets lay.Coupon-mad said:If it's a private parking firm just send an email to the Hotel Manager, or call them and tell them to get their greedy scammer agents to cancel it forthwith.

Only a judge can make you pay. You are now dealing with the cesspool that is the unregulated private parking industry. If the vehicle is registered in your name then your employer isn't involved, and they can't make you pay.
If your employer is the registered keeper then they either need to get this cancelled, or name you as the hirer/lessee of the vehicle without naming the driver.

Which parking firm?
Has your employer replied to the NTK to transfer liability to you? If not, they should. You don't pay these things all the time that the industry remains rogue and unregulated.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

A private charge from a Hotel site is not a fine. It's an invoice and the Hotel can cancel it.Personally, I think your employer is out of order here. This is an invoice (albeit a speculative one) that has been incurred by their employee (you) in the course of your employment. If you needed 100 metres of water pipe for a job they wouldn't expect you to pay for it; they would pay and pass the cost on to their customer. This is the same. They should be dealing with this, invoicing the hotel for the "parking charge" plus admin costs on top.Are you in a trade union? Can they get your employer to deal with this?(Sorry for the digression, but the OP's finance department seem to be in the wrong here.)N. Hampshire, he/him.
